In a move aimed at strengthening security and fostering collaboration, Assistant Comptroller General of Customs (ACG) Sambo Kaliel Dangaladima paid an official visit to the Kebbi Area Command on Friday, November 8, 2024.
This visit is part of his ongoing tour across Zone B, a critical axis in Nigeria’s Customs operations.
During his stop in Kebbi, ACG Dangaladima engaged with officers, stakeholders, and traditional leaders, underscoring the need for synergy in advancing Customs’ mandate and addressing local security challenges.
Addressing officers and men of the Kebbi Command in a parade, ACG Dangaladima commended the Customs Area Controller and his team for their achievements in enforcing Customs’ core mandates in the area.
“The Customs leadership believes in you,” he affirmed, noting their dedication. He further emphasized that bolstering the security in Kebbi would require collaborative efforts with sister agencies, community stakeholders, and traditional authorities.
To further drive this cooperation, ACG Dangaladima held a closed-door meeting with key stakeholders in the region, where he urged them to be compliant traders and to abide by Customs’ existing laws, particularly regarding cross-border trade.
This call for compliance reflects Customs’ commitment to lawful trade practices and strengthens ties with business communities in border areas.
ACG Dangaladima also underscored the importance of work-life balance and capacity building, aligning with the vision of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR.
To support these values, he commissioned a five-a-side football pitch and an E-library/Learning Centre at the Command. Both facilities were fully sponsored by local stakeholders, a testament to the cordial relationships the Command has fostered with the community over time.
Concluding his visit, ACG Dangaladima paid homage to the Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar, CFR, mni. He sought the Emir’s blessings as he prepared to depart from Kebbi, marking the end of his official tour in the area.
