The ASUSS Sagamu Media Team has announced that Mrs. Ganiyat Shabi Odulate of Sonyindo Community High School Junior had been honored as the ASUSS Sagamu Teacher of the Week for Week 2, spanning January 13th to 17th, 2025.
They highlighted that Mrs. Odulate exemplified dedication, commitment, and excellence in teaching, noting that her reliability, dutifulness, and passion for education had earned her this well-deserved recognition.
The ASUSS Sagamu Chapter extended their congratulations to Mrs. Odulate on this outstanding achievement, celebrating her tireless efforts in shaping the minds of future generations and inspiring her students to reach their full potential.
In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Mrs. Odulate has served as a publicist for the past decade, a role that involves managing the school’s public relations and communications. This position requires her to handle the school’s publications, such as newsletters and internal bulletins distributed among staff, and to act as a liaison for external communications between the school and the community.
Her background as an English teacher has enabled her to transfer her verbal and writing skills into this role effectively. She has been able to communicate properly with others to get her point across and to understand how to identify what a client might be feeling or thinking, traits that she has carried over from education.
Mrs. Odulate’s dual roles as an educator and publicist have allowed her to integrate strategic communication into the school’s overall strategy, complementing major goals in the same way instruction does. She follows a four-step process: Research, Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation, similar to the steps effective educators follow in the classroom.
Her efforts have been instrumental in establishing communication lines, setting and meeting clear expectations, and pointing out successes, all of which are crucial in building positive school public relations.
