Blessing CEO Trial: Witness Tells Lagos Court He Paid ₦69.15m For Five-Year Lekki Property Lease

Published:

– Dr Onuoha Okeigwe alleges that the relationship influencer presented a Lekki building as her own, while the EFCC charges her with obtaining money by false pretence and stealing.

The trial of social media influencer and relationship expert Blessing Nkiruka Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, has continued at the Special Offences Court in Ikeja, Lagos, with a prosecution witness alleging that he paid ₦69.15 million for a five-year lease of a property allegedly represented to him as belonging to the defendant.

The witness, Dr Onuoha Okeigwe, gave the testimony on Monday, October 12, 2026, before Justice R. A. Oshodi, detailing the disputed transaction involving a property at No. 1 Tunbosun Osobu Street, Lekki, Lagos.

According to reports of the court proceedings published by The Guardian and TheNigeriaLawyer, the prosecution alleges that the property was presented to Hope Chiropractic Health Clinic Limited as belonging to Blessing CEO, leading to the payment for a five-year lease.

The case centres on whether the defendant had the right to lease the property and whether the representation allegedly made to the clinic was false.

Witness Narrates How the Lekki Property Deal Unravelled

DASCENARIO reports that while giving evidence, Okeigwe told the court that he paid the ₦69.15 million in connection with the lease, alongside additional charges, including agency, legal and caution fees.

He alleged that the arrangement became contentious after a man identified as Mr Tom arrived at the premises with police officers and some of his workers were arrested.

Okeigwe said he contacted Blessing CEO to seek clarification over the development but that she allegedly denied knowing the man.

According to the witness, he subsequently paid ₦100,000 to secure the release of his workers.

He told the court that the defendant continued to maintain that she owned the property despite the concerns raised over the transaction.

WhatsApp Messages Presented as Evidence

The prosecution witness also identified WhatsApp conversations in which Blessing CEO allegedly sent him photographs of the building as evidence of her claimed ownership.

Okeigwe maintained that the central issue was the alleged representation of ownership that preceded the lease payment.

He further alleged that the defendant collected money from him and another individual in relation to the same property.

The allegations form part of the evidence being examined by the court. The question of legal ownership and the circumstances surrounding the transaction remain matters for the judicial process to determine.

EFCC Charges Blessing CEO Over ₦69.15m Transaction

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), through its Lagos Zonal Directorate 1, arraigned Blessing CEO on June 9, 2026, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence and stealing involving ₦69,150,000.

According to the charge, the alleged offence occurred on or about March 21, 2025, in Lagos, when the defendant allegedly induced Hope Chiropractic Health Clinic Limited to pay the money by representing that the Lekki property belonged to her and was being leased to the company for five years.

The charge cites provisions of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act.

Blessing CEO pleaded not guilty to the charges, and the prosecution is expected to establish its allegations through evidence presented before the court.

The case is separate from other property-related allegations previously reported against the influencer and should be assessed on the evidence specific to each proceeding.

Court Adjourns Trial Until October 26

Following Monday’s proceedings, Justice Oshodi adjourned the case until October 26, 2026, for continuation of the trial.

The next sitting is expected to provide a further opportunity for the court to examine the evidence and hear the parties as the proceedings continue.

For now, the central questions remain whether the defendant had the legal right to lease the property, what representations were made to the prospective tenant, and whether the prosecution can prove the charges beyond reasonable doubt.

The allegations remain unproven. Blessing CEO is presumed innocent unless and until a court of competent jurisdiction establishes her guilt.
