The Edo State Police Command has arrested Theophilus Osazuwa, a suspected drug addict, for the tragic death of his four-year-old son, Testimony Osazuwa.
In a statement posted on X, the command’s spokesperson, SP Moses Joel Yamu, revealed that the incident occurred on December 24 at the family’s residence in Ogbeson Quarters, off Benin-Agbor Road.
According to the statement, Theophilus returned home that evening and began behaving erratically, shouting “Holy Host fire” before violently attacking his son. In a shocking turn of events, he reportedly grabbed the child and slammed him against a wall.
The boy was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police investigations suggest that Theophilus was under the influence of illicit substances, including “colos” and “ice,” at the time of the attack. SP Yamu stated, “Preliminary findings indicate the suspect, known for his history of drug abuse, likely acted under the influence of these substances.”
The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue, and he is expected to face charges related to the gruesome incident.
