EFCC Clarifies Hotel Raid In Niger State: 11 Suspected Internet Fraudsters Arrested

Published:

On February 27, 2025, operatives from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Kaduna Zonal Directorate, conducted a raid at White Hill Hotel in the Chanchaga Local Government Area of Niger State, resulting in the arrest of 11 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud.

The operation, executed in broad daylight, was based on credible intelligence regarding the suspects’ alleged involvement in fraudulent online activities. Items seized during the raid included two vehicles and 13 mobile phones of various brands.

In response to circulating reports suggesting that bandits disguised as EFCC operatives had abducted hotel guests, the Niger State Police Command clarified the situation. Spokesperson Wasiu Abiodun stated that the operation was indeed carried out by EFCC officials, dismissing the abduction claims as false.

The EFCC emphasized that their operatives conducted the arrest professionally, with no elements of abduction involved. The suspects are slated to be charged in court upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations.

This operation underscores the EFCC’s ongoing commitment to combating cybercrime across Nigeria, reflecting similar recent actions in other regions.
