OWO, ONDO STATE — The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Amos Paul for allegedly inflicting grievous bodily harm on his 10-year-old daughter by using a hot pressing iron to burn her private part as punishment for bedwetting.

The incident, according to the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, was reported on Thursday, July 16, 2026, in the Unaun, Upenme area of Owo Local Government Area.

The victim reportedly sustained severe injuries and was subsequently rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owo, where she is receiving medical treatment.

Following the report, detectives attached to the ‘A’ Division, Owo, swiftly mobilised to the scene and arrested the suspect, who was taken into custody for investigation.

The police spokesperson said the matter has been transferred to the Gender Unit for discreet investigation and further necessary action in accordance with established procedures.

Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Felix Ohagwu, condemned the alleged act in strong terms, describing it as “cruel, inhumane and completely unacceptable.”

The Commissioner reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting children and other vulnerable persons from all forms of abuse, violence and exploitation.
