The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commands of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding the lives and properties of residents across Abuja, especially during the upcoming festive season.
This assurance was highlighted during a strategic meeting at the NSCDC Command headquarters in Wuse Zone 5, Abuja, where the FCT Commissioner of Police (CP), Olatunji Disu, paid a courtesy visit to the NSCDC Commandant, Dr. Olusola Odumosu.
During the meeting, Dr. Odumosu emphasized the importance of inter-agency collaboration in addressing security challenges in the FCT. He noted that working together will enhance service delivery and ensure the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure (CNAI).
“Collaboration is crucial to achieving shared goals in maintaining peace and security as no single organization holds a monopoly of strategy in security management,” he stated.
Dr. Odumosu further called for unity and teamwork, stressing that a collective approach was necessary for tackling security threats in the territory and across Nigeria.
“We need each other because unity and teamwork is essential in effectively tackling the security challenges in the FCT and the country at large,” he added.
He reassured residents that the NSCDC is ready to collaborate with the police to curb crimes and nefarious activities, especially during the Yuletide. He warned those planning criminal activities to desist, as the combined efforts of both agencies would ensure a peaceful holiday season.
The Commandant also advised residents to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and prioritize security within their neighborhoods. He described CP Disu as an exceptional officer whose wealth of experience would further strengthen efforts to combat insecurity in the FCT.
In response, CP Disu highlighted the significance of synergy between the two agencies, particularly in intelligence sharing and joint operational strategies. He suggested joint training sessions and sporting activities to improve interpersonal relationships among officers of both organizations.
“Successful collaboration could be enhanced through joint trainings and engagement in sporting activities that will help to bridge the gaps between operatives of both organisations,” CP Disu remarked.
He expressed his commitment to fostering a strong relationship with the NSCDC and applauded the cordial bond he shares with Dr. Odumosu.
“The CP assured the NSCDC FCT Commandant of his unwavering commitment to sustaining the robust relationship which will trickle down to officers and men of both agencies, especially during field operations,” the statement added.
To mark the occasion, both security leaders exchanged gifts, symbolizing their mutual respect and dedication to ensuring the safety of residents in the FCT.
