On January 23, 2025, the FCT Police Command’s Anti-Narcotics Unit carried out a series of strategic and well-coordinated raids across Abuja, targeting notorious hotspots linked to the sale and use of illicit drugs. These operations, meticulously planned and executed, aimed to disrupt criminal networks and reclaim areas plagued by illegal drug activities. Acting on intelligence, the operatives stormed multiple locations known to harbor criminal elements, dismantling their operations and sending a strong message against drug-related crimes in the Federal Capital Territory. The successful raids highlight the police’s commitment to maintaining law and order while curbing the menace of substance abuse.
The areas covered during the raids include:
SDP Junction, Gwagwalada.
Lugbe Federal Housing, by Tipper Garage.
Wuse Zone 5, by Access Bank.
AYA Roundabout.
During the operation, suspects at the respective locations attempted to flee on sighting the Police operatives but were swiftly pursued. This led to the arrest of eight (8) suspects and the recovery of the following exhibits:
