Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has been named The Sun Newspaper Governor of the Year 2024 for his credible leadership and remarkable governance, which have driven infrastructural and transformational advancements in Anambra State.
The award was presented at a prestigious event at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, on March 1, 2025.
The ceremony was graced by top government officials, senators, and dignitaries from both the public and private sectors, who praised Soludo for his extensive projects in key sectors such as education, healthcare, road infrastructure, human capacity development, economic growth, and security.
Presenting the award, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu, alongside The Sun Newspaper publisher, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, commended Governor Soludo for his visionary leadership.
She emphasized his commitment to making Anambra a hub for economic and business activities.
She stated, “Soludo, the erstwhile Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has truly redefined governance with a series of initiatives, making Anambra a homeland where people can live, invest, learn, work, relax, and enjoy.”
In his acceptance speech, Governor Soludo expressed gratitude to The Sun Publishing Limited for the recognition, attributing the achievement to his cabinet members, the Solution Team, and the people of Anambra.
“I want to dedicate this award to the good people of Anambra State—the keke drivers, artisans, market men, and women working very hard to make Anambra great,” he said.
Governor Soludo has also received several other recognitions for his exemplary governance.
He was recently named the Best Performing Governor in Primary Healthcare Delivery in the Southeast and Nigeria overall.
This recognition was presented by the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) in collaboration with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Aliko Dangote Foundation, the Federal Ministry of Health, and UNICEF.
Additionally, Anambra State ranked fourth in BudgIT’s State of States 2024 Report for overall fiscal performance and sustainability, showcasing Soludo’s commitment to fiscal responsibility and economic management.
