
…As Bala Zakka Urges Govt. To Make Fertilizer Available For Farmers In Nigeria
The CP Tunji Disu,an accomplished judoka has been conferred with the Guild of Photojournalists Nigeria Police Gallantry Award known as the most outstanding Anti-Crime Police Chief, for his use of advanced technology, and tremendous contributions towards enhancing the Law enforcement operations in Nigeria.
This was beautifully presented on Friday 6th December, 2024,during the 4th Annual Conference, Exhibition And Awards Dinner held at the NBA Conference Hall Ikeja Lagos.
Speaking at the Conference, the Chairman Guild of Photojournalist Nigeria (GPN),Mr. Abiodun Ajala congratulated every Award recipients and the participants for their tireless efforts to capture the world most important stories.
He described every of their contribution as a gift to us all, and doubt not that it will continue to inspire, educate and motivate all for the years to come.
He said, that the high point of the event was the inauguration of the young photographers club where the children between ages 8-18 were co-opted into a cluster.
Meanwhile, the focus for the next generation was to support and nurture them and provide them platforms to showcase their talents. He said.
He stated that we must continue to advocate for the press freedom, safety and access to information as we also recognize the importance of supporting and protecting photojournalists, having chosen the year 2024 Theme as “Food and Fuel Crisis, A Survival of the Fittest.
The Keynote speaker, Energy Expert and Public Analyst, Mr. Bala Zakka FCA urged Nigeria Government to never be ignorance of the wants of the citizenry, that as the Leaders do not know the Volume of the crude oil we produce in the country, therefore, Government must try to make fertilizers available to the farmers in Nigeria so as to enable them to produce sufficient crops.
He revealed this fact, while speaking on the conference theme” Food and Fuel Crisis In Nigeria: A Survival of the fittest” that Nigeria is supposed to be the fuel of the African continent and must never allow fuel or food to be the crisis of the nation.
He buttressed that it is important for Nigerians to note that Nigeria is the continental hub of many things, which must not be seen as a country who is having a faulty Refineries, because if Nigeria as a country has over 100 Polytechnics in the country and still cannot discover the Chemical or Chemistry Guru or Experts that can proffer solution to the Nigeria Refineries and prevent the nation from sinking in that aspect, then there is something wrong somewhere and every citizen has the right to criticize the government of the day if the functionary is not doing well.
So, it must continue to be reechoed to Nigeria government, that it is her responsibility to provide goods and services to the citizens, not to be done by the private sector.
Nigeria is panicking today because so many companies and investors are running away from the country. He added.
Dr. Boye Ola said in his goodwill message, that at this stage of the country, every Nigerian has a role to play by joining the moving train professionally, that we must not be a Professor before an average Journalist can go out there to bring out issues in our society and spread it across the public and the readers for everyone to be fed and be happy with the topic of the day.
The Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ikeja Branch, and Panelist, Mr. Seyi Olawunmi said facts be told over the crisis of the nation, that Nigerians can avoid the Food and fuel crisis in Nigeria if the whole Nigeria and leaders are sincere to ourselves.
He explained, that the power belongs to the people in a democratic society, and at this point, the interests and desires of the masses need to be respected and addressed, not giving protection or concentration to the Rich alone.
Other Panelist,Esq Yusuf Nurudeen mentioned in his speech, that if we are talking on the issue of Violations, it is not directly enshrined around the field of work alone, that the Photojournalists have the right to be protected from all hazard and to have access to right education and sensitization to give their opinions at all time, in order to be more happier in their world.
Others in attendance, were the Chairman Planning Committee for the 2024 Conference, Mr. Olakunle Ola, Temitope Aina, and Award recipient with a conferment as GPN Energy Women of the year(Oil and Gas) Mrs. Oluwakemi Oyekan-Olumuyiwa.
