In commemoration of the 2025 Children’s Day celebration themed “Little Footsteps, Big Future”, the Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu, fondly known as Dullar, joined fellow Nigerians in celebrating the dreams, hopes, and resilience of children across the nation—especially those in Somolu.

In a heartfelt congratulatory message, Hon. Dullar described children as the bright lights guiding society toward a promising tomorrow. “Your joy, dreams, and determination light the path to a future filled with promise. This year’s theme, ‘Little Footsteps, Big Future’, perfectly captures your journey—and we are honoured to walk alongside you,” he said.

He emphasized the pride and admiration he holds for every child in the community, reaffirming his administration’s dedication to nurturing the next generation through purposeful investment in their well-being and development.

“As a local government, we remain deeply committed to creating an enabling environment where every child can thrive,” Hon. Dullar noted. “We have prioritized education by renovating public primary schools, distributing free school uniforms, exercise books, and essential learning materials to ease the burden on families and support our children’s growth.”

Highlighting key developmental programmes under his leadership, the council chairman pointed to initiatives such as Somolu Spelling Bee, Code Somolu, and Art for Future, which are designed to unleash children’s creativity, enhance their intellectual potential, and build self-confidence.

He further acknowledged the transformative power of sports and the arts in shaping well-rounded individuals. “Beyond academics, we recognize the critical role of extracurricular activities. Our youth-focused initiatives, including the Somolu Youth Games and various talent development schemes, are helping children discover their unique abilities and prepare for greater opportunities both locally and internationally.”

Reaffirming his unwavering belief in the dreams of the younger generation, Hon. Dullar concluded with a powerful message of hope and support: “Your footsteps may be small today, but they are full of purpose. We will continue to support and celebrate you, because your future is ours to nurture.”

As Children’s Day 2025 is celebrated, Somolu Local Government stands as a shining example of how local leadership can champion the cause of young people and invest meaningfully in their futures.
