The Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI) has announced the Lagos State Government’s new law on Highway Crossings.
According to the dynamic agency, the Lagos State Government has declared that henceforth, pedestrians must use the pedestrian bridges while crossing the highway and erring offenders will risk jail term and /or pay a fine of fifty thousand Naira as penalty if arrested.
In its bid to ensure that Lagosians are well informed and aware of the new development, KAI has embarked on several online publications, poster creation and sensitization via public rallies.
As part of the objectives of this new law, highway deaths cause by hit and run drivers and accidents that occur while trying to avoid Crossers will be reduce to the barest minimum.
According to KAI top officials, the law was enacted to protect the citizens themselves, stating that warnings will initially be issued to intending Crossers to use the pedestrian bridge, of which failure to abide will then attract arrest and subsequent payment of the fine.
