The Lagos chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has commended Dangote Refinery for its recent reduction in fuel prices, describing the move as a much-needed reprieve for Nigerians grappling with economic challenges.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, NLC Lagos State Chairman Funmi Sessi praised the timing of the price cut, emphasizing its potential to alleviate the financial burdens on citizens amid a period of heightened cost of living.
“Dangote Refinery has demonstrated a commitment to economic relief at a time when Nigerians need it most,” Sessi said.
The reduction in fuel prices is expected to yield cascading benefits across various sectors. According to Sessi, it will significantly lower transportation costs, reduce the prices of goods and services, and improve the purchasing power of citizens.
“This intervention by Dangote Refinery will not only bring relief to households but also stimulate economic activity by reducing operational costs for businesses,” she added.
Sessi acknowledged the refinery’s role as a critical asset in Nigeria’s efforts to achieve energy self-sufficiency and stabilize its economy.
