
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, has once again demonstrated its commitment to safeguarding lives, critical national assets and infrastructure in the state.

Adedotun Sunday Keshinro, earlier on Thursday, 11th January, 2024, has paraded, 4 male (names withheld) suspects, who were apprehended, while attempting to vandalize the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited ( NNPCL ) pipeline located, at Lakayana Awadu Street, Obawole, in Fagba area, Ifako-Ijaye LGA, Lagos state.

The Command obtained, credible and actionable intelligence about the nefarious activity of the aforementioned elements and swung into action at about 0245hrs, on Wednesday, 10th January, 2024, to prevent vandalism attempt on NNPCL pipelines located at the point named, above and to save the community residents from any Imaginable Fire occurrence which may come up when the perpetrators are siphoning fuel.
As a result of the swift action of the Command’s team, the nefarious attempt of vandalism, by the suspects was thwarted, leading to their arrest and the recovery of some items at the scene of crime.
Speaking at the Press, The Lagos State Commandant, Adedotun Keshinro has Warned the Saboteurs To Desist From Nefarious Acts, and directed that the recovered exhibits; a white bus without registration number, implements and arrested suspects from the operation be brought to the State Command Headquarters, in Alausa, Ikeja, for further questioning and investigation.
He disclosed that it is precisely 6 pipelines which are channelled around the community among which it involves HU, PMS, and Kerosene.
He called the government and other stakeholders in the state in his address, to support the security agencies at all levels, to achieve their objectives based on the mandate.
He promised never to rest on their oars to work with other stakeholders to achieve the best of security, while the Intelligence and Investigation Department of the Command has also been charged, to conduct thorough interrogation and investigation, in a bid to ensure the swift and just handling of the matter.
“The Command has remained, ever resolute in its determination to bring the culprits to justice and curb such criminal activities.from permeating our streets and communities,” Keshinro said.
The Lagos State Commandant, Adedotun Keshinro further emphasized, the Command’s unwavering commitment to eradicating oil pipeline vandalism, illegal petroleum dealings, and the destruction of critical national assets and infrastructure in the state.
He therefore, seized, the opportunity, to send a clear message to those still involved in such act, that a new sheriff is in town and will not tolerate such forms of crime, as they will be identified, apprehended, and made to face the full wrath of the law if found culpable.
Commandant Keshinro Adedotun Sunday assured residents of further protection, and urged the residents to cooperate with the team to make Nigeria safe, because without Nigerians support the government cannot do it alone.
The Chairman of the Community Development Association, of Lakayana Awadu street, Obawole Ifako-Ijaye LGA, Pastor John Oluwafemi expressed relief over the arrest, as Civil Defence Officers finally arrived to apprehend the suspects who have been given the residents and Landlords sleepless night, around the area fuel pipeline.
Saying the area remained their Jerusalem, which must not be allowed to catch fire as the perpetrators usually come at night to siphon fuel from the pipeline.
The Chairman however prayed to God, to give NSCDC more success in their Discharge of duties, and requested for their help to endeavour to make a proper barricade around the naked pipeline territory.
He said, those pipeline perpetrators had come in the past and the Landlord attempt to encage them almost cause a fight between the residents and some set of police, before they managed to run away and this last one has demonstrated a life saving assignment. He added.
