The Lagos State Police Command under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh has continued to give armed robbers, car thieves, criminals and other criminal elements sleepless night and ensure they’ve no operational place in Lagos. CP Jimoh made this known during a press briefing on the Command’s strategic operational breakthrough and crime-fighting achievements for the month of November 2025 at the Command’s headquarters in Ikeja, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report.
According to the CP, “the Command intensified surveillance, intelligence-led raids, and rapid tactical responses throughout the month, efforts that led to the recovery of 10 stolen vehicles, one motorcycle, and six firearms, alongside the arrest of multiple suspects linked to robbery, kidnapping, car-snatching, smuggling, and other violent crimes.”
“These achievements are a testament to our sustained strategy aimed at dismantling criminal gangs, intercepting stolen property, removing illegal firearms from circulation, and strengthening public safety across Lagos State,” CP Jimoh said.
He announced the recovery of 10 stolen vehicles and one motorcycle during various intelligence-led operations in November.
Among the vehicles recovered was a White Toyota Hilux (KTU 940 JR) traced to suspects who allegedly used it to obtain goods under false pretence. A White Range Rover SUV was also secured after the individual last seen driving it could not be identified by its registered owner.
In a separate operation, officers intercepted a Black Toyota Land Cruiser after discovering that the vehicle lacked valid customs documentation and was suspected to have been smuggled into the country. The Command also recovered a Silver Lexus GX460 SUV, which had been fraudulently disposed of by an individual entrusted with the vehicle.
A Silver Honda CR-V linked to a notorious interstate syndicate operating across Edo, Ogun, and Lagos states was retrieved, while a Grey Toyota Corolla (SMK 437 HV) found abandoned in a secluded location was confirmed to have been recently stolen.
Officers further recovered a Wine Toyota Corolla (LSD 887 JJ) from suspects arrested in connection with an interstate vehicle-snatching gang, as well as an Ash Lexus ES350 obtained through fraudulent means.
Additionally, a 2011 Toyota Highlander (Ash colour) was recovered during targeted crackdowns on suspected stolen vehicles. The Command also intercepted a Boxer Bajaj motorcycle (KTU 310 QN) following surveillance that linked it to suspicious movements associated with criminal activity.
CP Jimoh confirmed that several suspects arrested over the course of the month are currently assisting with investigations. He said efforts are ongoing to identify additional accomplices linked to armed robbery and kidnapping syndicates, as well as to dismantle interstate and cross-border networks involved in vehicle-snatching.
According to him, police investigators are also verifying ownership of all recovered vehicles and the motorcycle to ensure proper return to rightful owners.
In addition, the Command is tracing the source of the fake US dollars recovered and probing the use of military camouflage and charms in facilitating criminal activities.
The CP said the Command is also strengthening oversight over car-hire services and informal transport operators, which are increasingly being exploited by criminal elements to perpetrate fraud and mobility-related offences.
