In a progressive move to enhance support for survivors of domestic and sexual violence, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has launched two innovative technological tools: ‘Ask INU,’ an AI-powered chatbot, and a Self-Reporting Tool integrated into the Domestic and Sexual Violence Case Management System (DSVCMS).
‘Ask INU’ AI Chatbot
The ‘Ask INU’ (I Need You) chatbot is a WhatsApp-based artificial intelligence system designed to provide immediate assistance to survivors. By messaging 0812 893 7058 on WhatsApp, users can confidentially access information about available support services, including guidance on reporting cases, seeking legal aid, and accessing counseling services.
Self-Reporting Evidence Portal
The Self-Reporting Tool, integrated into the DSVCMS, allows survivors and mandated reporters to securely submit case details and upload evidence such as photos, videos, audio recordings, and medical reports. This secure storage ensures that survivors can retrieve their evidence when they are ready to seek justice, thereby strengthening the prosecution process.
Government’s Commitment
These initiatives align with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s vision to leverage technology in combating domestic and sexual violence. The DSVA emphasized that these tools would provide survivors with swift access to help while enhancing the state’s capacity to prosecute offenders effectively.
By integrating these technological solutions, Lagos State reaffirms its dedication to supporting survivors and ensuring that perpetrators are held accountable, thereby fostering a safer community for all residents.
