Authorities in Kogi State are on the hunt for a man identified as Mallam Mukit, who has been accused of attempting to murder his 19-year-old friend in New Zango, Kabba Junction, Okene.
The shocking incident came to light through a Facebook post shared by Zainab Avosuahu, a family member of the victim, on Tuesday, December 24, 2024.
According to Avosuahu, the suspect allegedly lured her nephew, a young Point of Sale (POS) operator, into a bush under false pretenses. Once there, Mukit reportedly robbed the victim of ₦200,000 before slitting his throat in a brutal attack.
Victim Undergoing Treatment
Despite the severity of his injuries, the victim survived the ordeal and is currently undergoing surgery at a hospital in Lokoja. The young man remains unable to provide a detailed account of the incident due to his critical condition.
Avosuahu expressed her outrage and called for justice in her post, stating:
“This is a call for justice for my nephew whom his friend dragged into the bush, collected ₦200,000 from, and still butchered his throat. He is undergoing surgery in Lokoja while the devil disguised as a friend is on the run. Please, we are on the lookout for him.”
Police Investigation Underway
The suspect, Mallam Mukit, has fled the area and is currently at large. Local authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any information that could lead to his apprehension.
The incident has sparked outrage within the community, with many calling for swift justice to ensure the suspect is held accountable for his actions.
