Ayobami Sodiq Ajisegiri, popularly known as DJ Spending, a close ally of the late music star Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad, has refuted claims suggesting he concealed information regarding Mohbad’s death. In a detailed post on his social media platforms on Monday, December 23, Spending clarified discrepancies in his earlier statements about his last encounter with the late singer.
In his earlier testimony, Spending had claimed he saw Mohbad around 9 PM on the day of his death. However, he now admits that his recollection of that encounter was inaccurate. Spending revealed that he last saw Mohbad alive between 11 AM and 12 PM on September 11, 2023, a significant difference from his previous assertion of 9 PM. He attributed the confusion to the emotional trauma, anxiety, and mental distress he experienced following Mohbad’s sudden and tragic passing.
“I would like to clarify that the timing I initially gave was not accurate,” Spending wrote. “I suffered from emotional distress, psychological trauma, and anxiety due to Mohbad’s passing, which left me in a state that wasn’t ideal for providing a clear timeline. I was wrongfully accused of being at Mohbad’s residence on the day of his death, and this ordeal affected my mental state, leading to the inconsistency in my previous statement.”
Spending insisted that he left Mohbad’s house between 3 PM and 4 PM on September 11, 2023. He clarified, “I never intended to deceive or conceal anything regarding the last time I saw Mohbad. The accurate time I left his house was between 3 PM and 4 PM on that Monday, which aligns with the testimony I gave at the Corona Inquest.”
Spending further denied any conversations regarding the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death with social media influencers while in custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, apart from Westo and his assistant. He refuted claims of fabricated audio recordings and text messages allegedly documenting such conversations, asserting their inaccuracy.
The DJ expressed deep regret over the loss of Mohbad, stating that the incident continues to weigh heavily on him. “Mohbad’s untimely passing is still painful, and I am trying to heal from the trauma. I sincerely pray for justice for Mohbad and call on those responsible for his death to be brought to book,” he emphasized.
Spending’s admission and clarifications aim to dispel doubts surrounding his involvement and testimony, as the search for truth and justice continues in the case of Mohbad’s death.
