The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC) Honorable Yazid Shehu Umar Danfulani has been honoured with the 2025 Nigeria Media Nite-Out Award of Excellence, earning him national recognition for public service for Agricultural Risk Management and Rural Development.

This shows his leadership in strengthening agricultural risk management across the country.

Receiving the award at a ceremony attended by media professionals, policymakers, and industry stakeholders in Lagos, the NAIC MD/CEO dedicated the honour to Nigerian farmers and the corporation’s staff.

He noted that the award reflects the growing acknowledgment of agriculture’s central role in Nigeria’s economic stability.

In his remarks, the NAIC boss represented by the Head of Agric Service, Mr Danladi Mato, emphasized that food security must remain a top national priority, especially in the face of climate change, rising production risks, and the pressures of population growth.

He highlighted NAIC’s efforts in expanding agricultural insurance coverage, promoting modern farming practices, and providing financial protection for farmers affected by floods, drought, pests, and other unforeseen challenges.

According to him, strengthening food security goes beyond production. It requires a coordinated approach involving insurance, technology, infrastructure, and robust government support.

He reiterated NAIC’s commitment to partnering with stakeholders to mitigate risks and safeguard the sector.

The event organizers praised the MD/CEO’s contributions to agricultural development and his advocacy for policies that protect farmers and enhance national food resilience.

The award further cements NAIC’s position as a key player in driving sustainable agricultural growth and supporting Nigeria’s broader economic diversification agenda.

The representative of the MD/CEO was accompanied by the NAIC’s Corporate Affairs Manager, Dr Lawal Umar Maradun, and the Lagos Branch Manager of the Corporation Mr Titiloye Oyatolu.
