On Wednesday, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) announced a plan to host a Stakeholder Consultative Forum. This is part of its ongoing Study on the Level of Competition in the Nigerian Telecommunications Industry.
The forum, scheduled to hold on January 13, 2025 in Lagos is aimed at engaging industry players. Furthermore, it will include policymakers, and other stakeholders on the state of competition within Nigeria’s fast-evolving telecommunications sector.
The study is being conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), which was engaged by the NCC to provide an independent, evidence-based assessment. Assessing the market structure, competitive dynamics, and regulatory effectiveness across the industry.
According to the Commission, the consultative forum will provide a platform to review preliminary insights from the study. It will further gather stakeholder perspectives, and strengthen regulatory approaches that promote fair competition, innovation, and consumer protection in the telecoms market.
Additionally, the NCC has invited members of the public and industry stakeholders to submit written contributions and correspondence to competitionstudy2025@ncc.gov.ng ahead of the forum.
This initiative underscores the NCC’s commitment to ensuring healthy competition in the telecommunications environment. Also, it will support investment, improves service quality, and advances Nigeria’s digital economy objectives.
