The Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, has reaffirmed the Nigeria Customs Service’s commitment to collaborating with the National Defence College to enhance national security and trade facilitation.
At a meeting on May 5, 2024, at the Nigeria Customs Service Headquarters in Abuja, the CGC praised the commandant of the National Defence College, Rear Admiral Olumuyiwa Olotu, for his efforts in enhancing national security.
The CGC emphasized that national security encompasses not only territorial integrity but also food, climate, environment, and other aspects.
He commended the National Defence College for its efforts in implementing environmentally sustainable technology and expressed the Nigeria Customs Service’s interest in adopting some of these technologies in their operations.
The CGC also announced plans to establish a specialized university for customs, which will draw support from other customs administrations and universities in the sub-region.
He expressed his appreciation for the National Defence College’s guidance and support in achieving this objective.
Rear Admiral Olumuyiwa Olotu, the Commandant of the National Defence College, praised the CGC for his commitment to collaboration and outlined the college’s goals, including implementing environmentally sustainable technology to strengthen the national economy and create jobs for Nigerian youths.
This partnership aims to consolidate the efforts of both institutions in enhancing national security and trade facilitation, leveraging each other’s strengths and expertise to achieve their objectives.
