In a demonstration of its renewed commitment to proactive crime prevention, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has recorded a series of remarkable successes through intelligence-driven operations across the country. These efforts underscore the Force’s dedication to combating crime and enhancing public safety in 2025.
Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, highlighted these achievements during a press briefing, citing coordinated operations in Kogi and Katsina States, as well as nationwide efforts against human trafficking and child abduction.
Banditry Disrupted in Kogi State
On January 18, 2025, police operatives under the Kogi State Command acted on intelligence regarding a strategic meeting of armed bandits in a forested area of Budon, Kogi State. Upon arrival, officers encountered resistance as the bandits opened fire.
“The gallant operatives of the Command engaged in a fierce gun battle, successfully neutralizing one bandit and apprehending four others,” ACP Adejobi stated. The operatives also recovered one AK-47 rifle, two magazines, 30 rounds of live ammunition, and two motorcycles.
Foiled Attack in Katsina State
In a separate incident on the same day, a distress call alerted officers at the Dutsinma Divisional Police Headquarters, Katsina State, to an imminent attack by suspected armed bandits targeting Ruwan Doruwa Village in Dutsinma Local Government Area.
Responding swiftly, police operatives, in collaboration with other security agencies, intercepted the armed bandits. Following an intense gun battle, seven bandits were neutralized, while others fled, abandoning 109 rustled livestock.
Major Breakthrough in Human Trafficking Operations
The Nigeria Police Force has also intensified efforts to combat human trafficking and the operation of illegal baby factories. ACP Adejobi revealed that more than 207 children abducted by suspected traffickers were rescued in various operations across the country.
A notable success occurred in Ondo State, where the police dismantled a syndicate linked to child abduction and trafficking. Acting on intelligence about a missing child in Okuta Elerin-Nla, Akure, the Ondo State Police Command apprehended three suspects: Abosede Olanipekun, Lukman Isiaka, and Sabira Izuorah. Fourteen children, aged between one week and seven years, were rescued during the operation.

ACP Adejobi commended the professionalism and dedication of police operatives involved in these operations. He emphasized that these successes reaffirm the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property while ensuring that criminal elements are held accountable.
“The success of these operations is a significant blow against those who threaten our nation’s security,” Adejobi stated. “The Nigeria Police Force will remain unwavering in its efforts to combat crime, uphold justice, and protect the peace and security of our society.”
