The Commandant of the Nigerian Army School of Signals (NASS), Major General Kennedy Osemwegie, has extended a hand of partnership to Nigeria’s premier telecommunications company, Globacom. During a high-level visit to the corporate head office of Globacom in Lagos, Major General Osemwegie expressed profound commendation for the company’s unwavering commitment to the growth and development of Nigeria over its two decades of operation, noting that the institution would be proud to collaborate with the telecom giant to enhance and attain its specialized mandate.
The visit, which included other senior officials from the signals school, was fundamentally exploratory, aimed at identifying concrete areas where Globacom, through its Corporate Social Responsibility arm, the Glo Foundation, could provide pivotal support.
Major General Osemwegie eloquently framed the proposed cooperation as a critical element in modern civil-military relations, emphasizing that the school, as the central hub for training Nigerian Army personnel and members of other paramilitary organizations in ICT and communications, is keenly interested in forging alliances with forward-thinking corporate bodies like Globacom.
He praised the company for its distinctly Nigerian outlook, observing that from its very first day of operation, Globacom has been consistently “extending the frontiers of who a Nigerian should be through its Nigeria-centered focus,” a quality that aligns perfectly with the national security and development objectives of the Nigerian Army.
Receiving the delegation on behalf of Globacom’s management, the Director of Strategy and Board Affairs, Mrs. Mojisola Ashieru Sweet, reciprocated the sentiment of national pride, affirming that the company is immensely proud of its role as an indigenous enterprise bringing life-transforming changes to the people.
She expressed the company’s clear preparedness to partner with the school on critical areas of need, outlining specific technological solutions that could be deployed. Central to this proposed collaboration is the adoption of the Glo Smart Learning Suite, specifically its sophisticated Learning Management System (LMS), which can be meticulously tailored to the unique and demanding requirements of a military training institution.
This powerful suite provides an integrated ecosystem of tools for creating and delivering advanced digital content, conducting live virtual classes, administering online tests, and generating detailed performance reports, all bolstered by instant messaging and video conferencing features to guarantee a rich, interactive, and seamless learning experience for military trainees.
Furthermore, the proposal includes an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to streamline school administration and bundled data packages to ensure uninterrupted, cost-free access to the platform for students at any time and from any location.
