In a surprising development, Bello Turji, the notorious bandit leader operating in Nigeria’s northwestern region, has reportedly released all individuals previously held captive by his group. This unexpected move coincides with intensified military operations targeting banditry in the area.
Bello Turji, born in 1994 in Shinkafi, Zamfara State, has been a central figure in the Nigerian bandit conflict. His group has been responsible for numerous attacks, including massacres in Zamfara and Sokoto states, resulting in the deaths of nearly 200 innocent people, including women and children.
The recent military offensive, known as Operation Fansan Yanma, has escalated efforts against Turji’s faction.
