In a recent development within the Nigerian entertainment industry, Temi Solomon, the manager and brother of renowned Mavin Records artist Reekado Banks, has been detained at Kirikiri Prisons over allegations of fraud amounting to N2 million.
The controversy began when Uwa Idahosa, a Lagos-based media personality, facilitated a deal for Reekado Banks to perform at a wedding in Benin on December 23, 2017. Despite receiving full payment of N2 million, the artist failed to honor the commitment. Subsequent attempts by Idahosa to secure a refund were met with resistance, with Reekado’s team offering only N800,000, citing incurred logistics costs.
Efforts to resolve the matter amicably proved futile as Reekado Banks reportedly ignored multiple police invitations. This led to the arrest and arraignment of his manager, Temi Solomon, who has been remanded in custody until the next court hearing scheduled for February 19, 2018.
The incident has sparked discussions about accountability and professionalism within the Nigerian music scene, underscoring the importance of honoring contractual obligations and maintaining trust between artists, their management, and clients.
