Speed Darlington’s lawyer, Stan Alieke, has expressed confusion over the police’s refusal to grant the singer bail, nearly three weeks after his re-arrest and detention.
In a live chat session today, Alieke revealed that the assigned date for Speed Darlington’s arraignment is January 15, 2025, raising concerns about why the police have continued to detain him during the Christmas and New Year holidays at the IRT detention center in Abuja, often referred to as “Abbatoir.”
Alieke stated that the police have the authority to grant administrative bail but seem reluctant to do so, adding that he believes there may be underlying motives. He speculated that the police may be holding a grudge against Speed Darlington due to bribery allegations the singer previously leveled against them.
Speed Darlington was arrested following a petition by Burna Boy, who accused him of defamation.
