….. Dr Adelanwa Cautions Parents To Maintain Balance Communication Among The Boy And Girl Child Without Any Thoughts Of Rivalry
Parents have been urged to create an environment earlier, to safeguard the children usually from Substance Abuse, at the same time maintain a balance communication between the boy and the girl child, without causing any form of rivalry thought from the Children over the mother or father.
This was disclosed on Saturday, during the One Day Interactive Forum held By the Children Academic & Vocational Support Initiative Organisation (CAVSI), in collaboration with Abari Academy and the Press Society Group at the Abari Academy premises, ota Tollgate, Lagos/Ogun State. With a Theme: “Parental Responsibility In Understanding Children’s Substance Use, Effects And Solutions ”
Speaking at the Forum, the Guest Speaker& a Psychologist, Dr. Bountiful Taiwo Adelanwa expressed, that Parents condemning a child for being who he is, it is not the way to go, but it is the best to correcting the child in love, in order to get a particular and desired results.
Therefore, both parents need to balance and redirect their emotions in a family by being responsible to play their roles in love, to raise a balance children, which will cause no conflict, but will enable both the girl and boy child to relate with the Father and mother equally without any childish sense, that will say mother love the Boy child more than the girl.
Also, to prevent and help them from going astray to practicing substance abuse. She said.
While she submitted generally in her address, that there is no Wedding ceremony conducted without issuing a certificate, but to nurture the children does not require or provide any certificate for such a family. However, she urged the women to try to know the behavior of their children, and understand better the type of husbands they have, so as to caution themselves from broadcasting their husbands privacy and shortcomings around the community. Because 50 percent of your husbands’ character is in your child. She added.”
Saying, that the most challenging age of a child is an adolescent stage, so we need to show them love and correct them in love from a tender age, it is not all about chastisement all the time!
Meanwhile, children addiction is a multidisciplinary practice and the solution to a final output towards our children is the report card, knowing the behaviors of our children. She explained.
The Convener, CAVSI Day Interactive Forum, Mr. Ariori Hakeem Babatunde said in his speech, that the organization realized that a lot of Children cannot discuss any issue they are struggling with to their parents, which was where it observed the topic of the day, the substance users.
He advised further, that is high time Parents started being their children’s friends, and give them good time to nurture them up with patience.
He stated also, that a Family is like a state of the nation which needs to be nurtured with care and ensure that we get it right.
He buttressed, that since 2004 which CAVSI has begun, over 5000 students have been empowered with series of basic educational materials that will aid their learnings.
And during the 20th Anniversary of the organization about 12 Students were supported on the payment
about 12 Students were supported on the payment of School fees.
He commended the Friends and Family and Clients who have been the sponsors of the group event so far,including the Abari Academy led by Mr. Akinola Abdulfatai, on his support for the selfless commitment towards the students development in Education.
He appealed to the government and every education lover to join hands in giving the best legacy to the children and good partnership that will help to better sustain the projects with the right funding.
The President of the Press Society, Comrade Elias Abayomi Adagunduro congratulated the parents who found time to participate out of their tight schedule for taking the future of the children serious in progressive sensitization,and prayed for God to lead the parents to achieve the best of them and never go astray in lifr.
Again, he called every interested Stakeholder and organisation to join hands with us to set things straight in order to promote more of Goodwork in our society and among the children without leaving it for the government alone.
The mental health Speaker, Dr. Mrs. Adenike Lawrence explained, that parenting requires adequate wisdom,that Parents in Nigeria should start a good relationship with communication with their children in order for the children to be ready to tell them anything, and protect them from evil occurrence.
While they also need to correct the children not always with beating, but with a parental care.
She advised therefore, to save the life of our children through seeing them as special children that needed not to be given to any damages.
Saying that Drugs for pains which are applicable for a person, May not be applicable to others, for self medications can damage someone’s body system
