Renowned Nigerian football legend Sunday Oliseh has been officially appointed to the Football Advisory Panel (FAP) of the International Football Association Board (IFAB), marking a significant recognition of his influence and expertise in global football governance.

The IFAB, which is responsible for setting and overseeing the laws of the game worldwide, established the advisory panel to gather expert insights from former players, coaches, referees, and administrators. Oliseh joins a distinguished group of global football minds whose recommendations help shape how the game is played at both grassroots and elite levels.

In his new role, Oliseh is expected to contribute to policy discussions on proposed rule changes, assess the impact of technological innovations like VAR, and advocate for reforms that uphold the spirit and integrity of football.

“It is an honour to be called upon to serve at this level of the sport,” Oliseh said. “I look forward to working with fellow panel members in making meaningful contributions that enhance the beauty and fairness of the game we love.”

Oliseh, who captained Nigeria’s Super Eagles and played for top European clubs like Ajax, Juventus, and Borussia Dortmund, is also a former national team coach. His vast experience as both player and tactician makes him a valuable voice in the ongoing global discourse about football’s future.

This appointment underscores Nigeria’s growing prominence in international football governance and highlights Oliseh’s enduring legacy as one of Africa’s most respected football ambassadors.
