Nigerian street-hop sensation, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has launched a scathing attack on veteran Fuji musician Saheed Osupa after the latter allegedly orchestrated the takedown of his song from major streaming platforms over copyright infringement.
In a now-viral Instagram video posted on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, Portable expressed his frustration over Osupa’s decision to file complaints that led to the removal of his song from Spotify and Apple Music. The dispute reportedly stems from Portable’s unauthorized use of a lyrical line from one of Osupa’s songs, which prompted the Fuji star’s distribution team to take action against the street-hop artist.
Reacting angrily to the takedown, Portable accused Osupa of failing to support his career and labeled him “big for nothing.” He contrasted Osupa’s stance with that of another Fuji heavyweight, Pasuma, who, according to Portable, had been more accommodating despite similar circumstances.
“Saheed Osupa, you are big for nothing. If you can’t embrace me, I will drag you. You sing Fuji while I sing hip-hop. The same way I used a line from your music is the same way I removed three verses from Pasuma. But Pasuma never reported my song. Keep your distance if you can’t embrace me like the way Pasuma adopted me like his own child. Osupa is a good man,” Portable stated.
The clash has since dominated social media conversations, with fans divided over the legitimacy of Osupa’s claim and Portable’s reaction. While some argue that Osupa has every right to protect his intellectual property, others believe the Fuji veteran should have handled the matter privately rather than resorting to strict copyright enforcement.
Meanwhile, industry observers point out that copyright disputes are becoming more frequent in the Nigerian music industry, as artists increasingly borrow elements from older songs without seeking proper clearance. This incident underscores the growing need for clear agreements between artists to prevent such public conflicts.
Despite the controversy, Portable remains defiant, insisting that he will not be silenced and will continue to challenge what he perceives as unfair treatment. It remains unclear whether the two musicians will reconcile or if Portable will pursue legal avenues to restore his song on streaming platforms.
As the feud unfolds, music lovers and industry stakeholders eagerly watch to see whether Saheed Osupa will respond publicly or if this will mark yet another chapter in the ever-dramatic career of the self-styled “Zazu Zeh” crooner.
