Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie Announces Nigerian Homecoming Tour For New Novel “Dream Count”

Published:

Internationally acclaimed author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie will return to Nigeria for a special 12-day homecoming tour from June 27 to July 8, 2025, to celebrate the release of her highly anticipated new novel, “Dream Count” – her first work of fiction in over a decade. The tour promises an immersive literary experience, blending live readings, cultural performances, and intimate discussions across multiple Nigerian cities.

The tour will commence with exclusive ticketed events in Lagos and Abuja, where attendees can expect evenings of poetry, music, and live readings by Adichie herself. These gatherings aim to offer a unique fusion of storytelling and cultural expression, allowing fans to engage deeply with the celebrated writer’s latest work.

A major highlight of the tour will be Adichie’s participation in the inaugural Things Fall Apart Festival in Enugu, organized by the Centre for Memories. The festival, inspired by Chinua Achebe’s literary legacy, celebrates Nigeria’s rich storytelling tradition, and Adichie’s presence as a distinguished guest underscores her role in continuing this heritage.

Additionally, the tour includes a special academic engagement at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), where Adichie will interact with students and faculty, reinforcing her commitment to nurturing emerging literary talent.

“Dream Count” marks Adichie’s return to long-form fiction after a 12-year hiatus, during which she remained influential as an essayist and speaker. Known for globally celebrated works such as “Half of a Yellow Sun” and “Americanah,” Adichie’s latest novel is already generating excitement among literary enthusiasts worldwide.

The tour’s venues, including Lagos’s prestigious Muson Centre, reflect the high demand for this rare opportunity to experience Adichie’s storytelling in person. Organizers have advised fans to secure tickets early due to limited availability.

This homecoming tour not only celebrates Adichie’s literary comeback but also reaffirms the strong connection between Nigeria’s iconic writers and their roots, even as their works reach global audiences.
