In a harrowing case of betrayal and brutality, a man was kidnapped and gruesomely murdered in the Otokutu community, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, with the alleged involvement of his own friend.

According to human rights activist Comrade Israel Joe, the suspects beheaded the victim, buried his head in a shrine, and continued to extort ransom from the victim’s family even after his death. Joe shared the chilling details in a Facebook post on Friday, December 20, 2024.

“This young man was kidnapped from Otokutu with the connivance of his friend. He was beheaded, and his head buried in a shrine, while the suspects kept collecting ransom from his family,” Joe wrote.

The case took a turn on Friday morning when officers from the Ekpan Police Division, led by Divisional Police Officer (DPO) CSP Aliyu Shaba, exhumed the victim’s head as part of their investigation.

Joe praised the DPO’s dedication to justice, stating, “CSP Aliyu Shaba has proven himself worthy in handling this investigation and operation. The wicked shall not go unpunished.”

The victim’s tragic demise has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the depths of betrayal and criminality that can emerge even among friends. Authorities have assured that the suspects involved will face the full weight of the law.

The case underscores the importance of vigilance and community collaboration in addressing rising insecurity in Delta State.
