Federal Government Announces Free Train Rides For Nigerians During Christmas Festivities

Published:

The Federal Government has unveiled a special initiative to provide free train rides for Nigerian citizens traveling during the Christmas and New Year holidays. This announcement was made on Monday, December 16, by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, during a press briefing on the outcomes of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.

Idris disclosed that the complimentary train service will run from December 20, 2024, through January 5, 2025, ensuring Nigerians have an affordable and convenient means of transportation during the festive season.

“This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to easing the financial burden on citizens during the holidays. Nigerians can take advantage of free train rides on all routes where train services are operational,” the Minister announced.

The free train service is expected to facilitate safe and efficient travel for Nigerians celebrating with loved ones across the country. The move aligns with the Federal Government’s efforts to enhance public welfare and ensure inclusive access to essential services.

Citizens are encouraged to plan their travels early and take full advantage of this opportunity to experience a cost-free and seamless rail journey during the festive season.
