The town of Nnewichi, Nnewi, Anambra State, is in shock and mourning after the gruesome murder of three young siblings—Ejezie Chikaima Daviana (9), Ejezie Chimziterem Dominica (7), and Ejezie Chimdilim David (5)—whose bodies were discovered stuffed inside a deep freezer in their home.
The horrifying discovery was made by their mother, Mrs. Chikazor Ejezie, a lecturer and nurse, upon returning from an examination on Saturday, February 1, 2025. The father, Mr. Ejezie Udochukwu, who was away in Edo State, was immediately alerted and rushed back home to the tragic scene.
A Mother’s Worst Nightmare
According to Mr. Udochukwu, his wife arrived home to find the front door unusually wide open, a deviation from the norm, as the children always locked it before stepping out to play. When she could not find them inside, she began a frantic search, combing through the neighborhood, including their church, where they served as altar servers.
After hours of searching with neighbors and well-wishers, she opened the deep freezer—only to be confronted with the lifeless bodies of her three children. The chilling discovery has left the family and community in devastation and disbelief.

From initial investigations, traces of food were found on plates inside the house, indicating that the children were eating when their attackers struck. The home, a bungalow shared with two tenants and the landlord, did not show signs of forced entry, raising questions about whether the assailants were familiar with the victims or had access to the house.
Residents of Nnewichi have expressed outrage, demanding a thorough investigation and swift justice. Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident, stating that the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Itam, has ordered an immediate and thorough investigation.
“The bodies have been recovered, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for further inquiries. More details will be shared as the investigation progresses,” Ikenga said in a statement.
The police are currently interrogating neighbors, including the landlord and other residents of the house, to determine any possible leads. Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage from nearby establishments in a bid to track down the culprits.

This tragedy comes just one month after another gruesome discovery in Nise, Awka South Local Government Area, where three young boys, aged between two and six years, were found dead inside a parked vehicle in their family compound. Witnesses reported that their mouths were bound, and the car was smeared with blood, suggesting a premeditated and brutal attack.
The eerie similarities between both cases—three children murdered under suspicious circumstances—have fueled fears of a sinister trend. Many online commentators have urged security agencies to investigate whether these killings are connected.

The deaths of Chikaima, Chimziterem, and Chimdilim have left Nnewichi residents in deep sorrow, with some expressing fears over the safety of their own children.
