Veteran Journalist Alleges Assault By K-Quare Security Staff At Citadel Oasis 20th Anniversary Celebration

Veteran journalist and publisher Ojo-Isaac Olusola Michael, Editor-in-Chief of SB E-News, SB Events Magazine, and Efficiency Magazine, as well as the founder of the Efficiency Award for Excellence (EAE), has reported a violent assault by staff members of K-Quare Multi-Dimensional Ltd. The incident allegedly took place during the 20th Anniversary Celebration of Citadel Oasis at the Federal Palace Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, on Thursday, December 5, 2024. According to Mr. Ojo-Isaac, he was physically attacked by two bouncers from K-Quare, who were assigned to secure the high-profile event.

Mr. Michael revealed that the assault left him with several injuries, including damage to his left eye, a fractured right knee, and multiple cuts and bruises from blunt objects reportedly used by the bouncers. He also mentioned that he is currently unable to walk properly due to the extent of his injuries.

In addition to the physical harm, Mr. Michael reported the theft of his Samsung Galaxy A25 5G phone, valued at ₦454,855, along with his wallet, which contained his ID, ATM cards, and other important documents.

The incident has been reported to the Barbeach Police Station in Victoria Island, Lagos. The Commissioner of Police for Lagos State has expressed concern over the matter, and an investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the bouncers involved.

Mr. Michael also confirmed that he has informed Dr. Kennedy Okonkwo, the MD/CEO of Citadel Oasis Ltd., the event’s host, who has assured him that the issue will be thoroughly investigated and that justice will be pursued.

The assault has sparked widespread outrage among journalists and media professionals, who have condemned the attack and called for swift action against the perpetrators. The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) is expected to release an official statement demanding improved protection for media personnel at public events.
