Lagos, Nigeria – April 18, 2026 — Hon. Gbolahan Ogunleye, Member representing Ikorodu Constituency I at the Lagos State House of Assembly, has firmly dismissed circulating reports alleging a political “partnership” with Abdulkareem Shittu, describing the claims as false, misleading, and politically motivated.
In a strongly worded statement, Hon. Ogunleye labeled the reports as a “fabrication of lies” orchestrated to create disunity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikorodu.
No Alliance, No Pact — “Baseless Claims”
Responding to speculation linked to recent political developments involving defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Ogunleye categorically stated that no alliance, pact, or understanding exists between himself and Abdulkareem Shittu.
“All these claims are baseless lies designed to mislead the public. I have no political partnership or arrangement with Hon. Shittu regarding any representation at the National Assembly,” he said.
He emphasized that his priority remains legislative responsibilities and the collective development of Ikorodu Constituency I under the APC platform.
Strong Endorsement of Rep. Babajimi Benson
Hon. Ogunleye also addressed insinuations regarding his stance on the re-election of Babajimi Benson, who represents Ikorodu Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.
He praised Benson’s performance as “unprecedented”, citing impactful projects and visible development across Ikorodu.
“Rep. Babajimi Benson has performed exceptionally well. He is representing us with distinction in Abuja, and his impact is felt in every corner of Ikorodu. To suggest that I would oppose his return is not just illogical—it is offensive to the truth.”
Silence Is Not Consent
Addressing concerns over his previous silence, Hon. Ogunleye clarified that it should not be misinterpreted:
“My silence was never consent. It reflects my commitment to meaningful work over political distractions.”
He reaffirmed his belief in rewarding performance and maintaining party unity, noting that there is no justification for disrupting a winning and effective leadership structure.
Call for Vigilance Against Misinformation
Hon. Ogunleye urged constituents to remain cautious of biased narratives, paid propaganda, and politically motivated misinformation, stressing the importance of focusing on verifiable development outcomes.
“The future of our constituency is too important to be toyed with. I would rather not amplify fake news.”
