Adura Aloba, the brother of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has strongly refuted allegations made by actor Yomi Fabiyi linking him to new claims surrounding the musician’s death.
Fabiyi, during a recent press conference, alleged that Adura contacted him via Instagram, claiming to have evidence implicating Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi, in the tragic death of the singer. The actor stated that Adura requested a sum of N3 million in exchange for a video purportedly showing Wunmi pushing Mohbad down the stairs after an argument.
The allegations come months after Mohbad’s untimely death on September 12, 2023, and his burial the following day. On September 21, the Lagos State Police Command exhumed his body to conduct an autopsy as part of ongoing investigations into the circumstances of his demise.
In response to Fabiyi’s claims, Adura shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, dismissing the actor’s statements as baseless and defamatory. He clarified that the video in question, recorded by Mohbad himself over three years ago, was stored on the late singer’s phone, which Adura had sold to a third party.
“I cannot know about my brother’s death and keep quiet all these days,” Adura stated in his video. “This video we are talking about is three years old. I didn’t record it; it was Moh himself who did, on a phone I later sold to Damola. About a week after selling the phone, I started seeing messages between Damola and Mr. Yomi Fabiyi.”
Adura further alleged that Fabiyi was attempting to tarnish his reputation, despite his efforts to explain the situation. He added, “You [Fabiyi] were invited, and it was clarified who was chatting with you. Despite that, you insisted on going live on TikTok to make baseless accusations. Mohbad’s phone contained the video, and it’s unfair to use this against me.”
Mohbad’s mother, Abosede Aloba, also weighed in, confronting Fabiyi for what she described as an attempt to vilify her family during a difficult time.
As the investigation into Mohbad’s death continues, the conflicting narratives between Fabiyi and Adura have added another layer of complexity to the case, sparking widespread public discourse. Legal proceedings are reportedly underway, with Adura expressing confidence that the truth will prevail.
The controversy comes amid heightened scrutiny of Mohbad’s life and untimely demise, with fans and the public demanding justice for the late artist.
