In a chilling turn of events, the search for a missing 21-year-old woman, Ayabonga Mjilo, ended in tragedy as her body was discovered buried in a shallow grave in eNanda, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Mjilo, who was reported missing on December 23, 2024, was last seen alive leaving a restaurant in Umhlanga on Christmas Day.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Colonel Robert Netshiunda, confirmed the grim discovery and announced the arrest of a 37-year-old man in connection with Mjilo’s kidnapping and murder.

Mjilo’s disappearance was reported by her family after she failed to return home following an outing. She was last seen in the early hours of December 25, leaving the Umhlanga restaurant with a male companion. A case of kidnapping was promptly opened, triggering a police investigation.
“Thorough police investigations uncovered the identity of the man who was seen leaving the establishment with the missing woman,” stated Colonel Netshiunda.
