The South-West Voters Association of Nigerian Youths (SWAVANY), has officially endorsed Prince (Dr.) Adewole Adebayo as its preferred Presidential Candidate and Usman Bugaje as his running mate for the 2027 General Elections at a media conference/mini rally held at the Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, on 8th oct, 2026.

Below, is the official media release to that effect.
PRESS STATEMENT
Protocols,
Gentlemen of the Press, distinguished leaders and members of the South-West Voters Association of Nigerian Youths, ladies and gentlemen.
Today is a historic day in the political journey of our dear nation. We, the leadership and entire membership of the South-West Voters Association of Nigerian Youths (SWAVANY), a formidable grassroots socio-political movement with functional structures across all 137 Local Government Areas and 1,500+ wards in the six states of the South-West (Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti), after wide consultations, have unanimously resolved to officially endorse Prince (Dr.) Adewole Adebayo, the Presidential Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), as our sole and preferred candidate for the Office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the 2027 general elections.
This endorsement is not an accident. It is the outcome of a rigorous, three-month internal democratic process, including manifesto scrutiny, town hall meetings with youths, students, artisans, market women, farmers and professionals across the South-West, and a careful assessment of the character, competence, and capacity of all leading presidential aspirants.
NIGERIA AT A CROSSROADS: WHY WE MUST CHOOSE RIGHTLY IN 2027
Nigeria today stands at a critical crossroads. The concerns of the average Nigerian youth and family are glaring and painful:
1. Crippling Economic Hardship and Poverty: The cost of living has become unbearable. The removal of fuel subsidy without adequate palliatives, the free fall of the Naira, and hyperinflation have pushed over 130 million Nigerians into multi-dimensional poverty. Nigerian youths are unemployed or underemployed, not because they are lazy, but because the system has failed to create an enabling environment for enterprise.
2. B Insecurity of Lives and Property: From kidnapping in the South-West to banditry in the North-West and insurgency in the North-East, no Nigerian is safe. Farmers can no longer go to farms, students are abducted from schools, and travellers are killed on highways. A government that cannot secure its people has failed in its primary duty.
3. Fuel Crisis and Energy Failure: It is a national shame that an oil-producing giant like Nigeria still imports refined petroleum and suffers endless fuel queues. The failure to fix our refineries and the over-dependence on importation has enriched a few cabals while impoverishing the masses.
4. Collapse of Education and Healthcare: Our public universities are underfunded, our graduates lack skills for the modern economy, and our hospitals have become mere consulting clinics where the poor go to die while the elite seek medical tourism abroad. The Japa syndrome is a direct consequence of this hopelessness.
5. Youth Exclusion and Bad Governance: The Nigerian youth, who constitute over 60% of the population, have been relegated to the background, used only as political thugs during elections and abandoned thereafter.
We have carefully listened to Prince Adebayo, particularly during his landmark public presentation of his manifesto in the ancient city of Ibadan, the political headquarters of the Yoruba nation. That choice of Ibadan itself is symbolic – it shows he understands and respects the progressive politics of Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
WHY PRINCE (DR.) ADEWOLE ADEBAYO IS THE ANSWER
We found in Prince Adebayo a credible and comprehensive answer to the above challenges:
a) On Economy and Poverty: His plan to create 30 million jobs through investment in agriculture, housing, light manufacturing and the digital economy, and his policy to end poverty by investing directly in the Nigerian people, aligns with our vision.
b) On Security: His commitment to recruit, train, equip and motivate more security personnel, deploy technology, and establish community-based security architecture to secure our homeland is exactly what we need.
c) On Fuel and Power: As he has clearly stated, his government will fix existing refineries, encourage modular refineries, and ensure Nigeria refines what it consumes. This will crash fuel prices and end the subsidy scam.
d) On Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption: As a tested and respected lawyer and businessman with no corruption baggage, we trust him to run a government based on justice, rule of law, and accountability, where crude oil proceeds are fully accounted for.
e) On Youth and National Unity: He is a detribalized Nigerian, a youth himself who speaks the language of the youths, and has promised a government where at least 70% of appointees will be youths and women.
OUR DECLARATION AND DIRECTIVE
Therefore, we, the South-West Voters Association of Nigerian Youths, on this 7th day of October, 2026, at his office in yaba Lagos, before the gentlemen of the press including *The Punch, The Guardian, Nigerian Tribune and 24 other leading national dailies, television, radio and online media organizations,* hereby declare our total and unalloyed support for Prince (Dr.) Adewole Adebayo.
Accordingly, this press statement serves as a formal and binding instruction to all our structures:
All State Coordinators, Zonal Coordinators, Local Government Coordinators, Ward Canvassers and polling unit mobilizers across the South-West are hereby directed to return to their bases and immediately commence massive mobilization to *support, canvass, educate and ensure every eligible youth votes for Prince (Dr.) Adewole Adebayo and the SDP* in the 2027 presidential election.
Our target is to deliver a minimum of 6 million youth votes from the South-West alone to guarantee victory.
We also use this medium to call on all Afenifere youth groups, all student unions, all artisans, all market associations and all progressive-minded Yoruba sons and daughters to join this moving train.
We are confident that with Prince Adebayo as President, Nigeria will be secured, poverty will be defeated, and a new Nigeria that works for all will be born.
Thank you, and God bless you.
Long live SWAVANY!
Long live the South-West!
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!
