Pupils of Salvation Army Primary School, Agunfoye, Igbogbo, now have access to a more conducive and dignified learning environment following the commissioning of a newly constructed block of six fully furnished classrooms facilitated by Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, Member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, alongside a newly constructed block of eight modern toilet units provided by the Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area under the leadership of Executive Chairman, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun.
The project, commissioned on Thursday, 7th May 2026, marks another significant intervention in the education sector and reinforces the commitment of both leaders to improving learning conditions and educational infrastructure within the community.
For years, pupils and teachers of the school contended with overcrowded classrooms and inadequate sanitary facilities. The newly completed infrastructure has now transformed the school environment, bringing relief, comfort, and renewed confidence to pupils, teachers, and parents alike.
The commissioning ceremony attracted community leaders, traditional rulers, education stakeholders, leaders of the All Progressives Congress, parents, teachers, and government officials, many of whom described the intervention as timely, impactful, and reflective of purposeful leadership.
Representing the Executive Chairman at the event, the Secretary to the Local Government, Alhaji Qudus Oduntan, commended Hon. Babajimi Benson for what he described as a consistent record of people-oriented representation across Ikorodu Federal Constituency.
“Hon. Babajimi Benson has continued to demonstrate that representation goes beyond occupying office; it is about responding meaningfully to the needs of the people,” he stated. “The Aroyewun administration considered it important to complement this laudable project with the construction of modern toilet facility to ensure that our pupils learn in a clean, healthy, and dignified environment.”
Speaking on behalf of the Agunfoye Elders Council, Alhaja Iyabo Salisu expressed gratitude to both Hon. Benson and the LCDA administration, noting that the project had restored hope to many families within the community.
“Our children can now attend school in a more comfortable atmosphere,” she said. “This project represents care, progress, and genuine concern for the future of our children.”
Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in IBLCDA, Hon. Taiwo Orenuga, highlighted the importance of sustained investment in education, noting that quality educational infrastructure remains critical to raising responsible future leaders.
Similarly, Deputy Leader of the Legislative House, Hon. Hakeem Sholawon, urged residents to continue supporting responsive leadership and actively participate in the democratic process through voter registration and PVC collection.
Former Supervisor for Works, Alhaji W.A. Yusuf, linked the intervention to the broader developmental footprint of Hon. Babajimi Benson across the federal constituency.
“This project reflects a pattern we have consistently seen from Hon. Babajimi Benson,” he said. “From roads to healthcare interventions, educational support, and community development projects, his representation has remained visible and impactful.”
The Baale of Gegenla, Chief Jamiu Abass, who represented High Chief Tajudeen Alade Duduyemi Onasanya, the Odofin of Igbogbo Kingdom, also commended the intervention, describing it as evidence of leadership that listens and responds to the people.
“When leaders hear the cries of the people and respond with action, communities naturally appreciate such leadership,” he remarked.
In his remarks, the Education Secretary for Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Alhaji Taiwo Ogunbo, described the project as a major boost to public primary education and called for sustained collaboration to address growing infrastructural needs across schools within the division.
Council Manager, Mr. Afolabi Babatunde Adeolu, urged residents and school authorities to protect and maintain the facilities, stressing that community ownership remains vital to sustainability.
The Head Teacher of Salvation Army Primary School, Mr. Esan, expressed deep appreciation on behalf of the school, noting that the intervention had brought joy, relief, and renewed morale to both pupils and staff.
The newly commissioned facilities stand as another testament to the impact of collaborative leadership and sustained investment in grassroots development within Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA.
