The Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Beecroft has successfully intercepted 19 suspected stowaways attempting to board Europe-bound vessels from Lagos State.
Reports indicate that these individuals, hoping to illegally migrate to Europe, had clandestinely boarded the vessels under the cover of darkness and concealed themselves within the rudder compartments in a bid to evade detection.
Additionally, four other suspected stowaways were apprehended onboard MT MCC YANBU, following credible intelligence gathered by NNS Beecroft personnel who were deployed for escort duties aboard the vessel.
The prompt actions of the Navy’s Quick Response Team played a crucial role in preventing the stowaways from enduring potentially life-threatening conditions during the prolonged voyage.
This interception highlights the continued efforts by the Nigerian Navy to combat illegal migration and safeguard the lives of those attempting perilous sea journeys.
