Paul Chukwuma, an All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant for the 2025 Anambra State elections, has vehemently denied allegations of $378,000 money laundering leveled against him. The allegations, which also involve the forfeiture of a Mercedes Benz Maybach, were reported to be linked to a decision by Justice Emeka Nwite of the Abuja Federal High Court following an ex-parte motion presented by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The report alleged that the money and luxury vehicle were proceeds of unlawful activities tied to Chukwuma, who serves as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Fides Et Ratio Academy Limited. However, during an interactive session with journalists at his country home in Umueri, Anambra East Local Government Area, Chukwuma described the claims as baseless and politically motivated.
‘I Cannot Be Intimidated,’ Chukwuma Says
Chukwuma blamed the allegations on political detractors attempting to undermine his gubernatorial ambition. He insisted that the funds in question were legitimately earned through a government contract executed by his company.
He stated, “People should be ready to contest for elections. You don’t need to use any instrument of government to intimidate anybody. I cannot be intimidated by anybody. I am going to win my party’s ticket and go ahead to win the governorship election and offer dividends of democracy to Ndi Anambra.”
Chukwuma further clarified that all documents related to the transaction are in the custody of the ICPC, adding, “The money is in the company’s account, which was legitimately earned. The facts should speak for themselves. I don’t want to believe that the report is coming from ICPC.”
Standing Firm Amid Allegations
Despite the controversy, Chukwuma expressed unwavering confidence in his integrity and ability to lead. “My image cannot be tarnished. We know the people behind this, and I cannot allow unpatriotic elements to stop me from contesting the forthcoming Anambra governorship election. I pay my taxes and have nothing to hide,” he asserted.
The aspirant also highlighted the growing influence of the APC in the South-East, crediting his efforts and those of his supporters for making the party “formidable” in the region. “The reality on ground is that through the good work we have done, APC has become very formidable in the South-East, and I have personally taken it upon myself to ensure that APC is the party to beat,” he added.

The allegations against Chukwuma have sparked widespread debate within Anambra State and beyond. Supporters of the APC aspirant argue that the timing of the allegations points to a calculated political attack, while critics urge the ICPC and judiciary to uphold accountability and transparency in the matter.
As the race for the Anambra governorship intensifies, Chukwuma remains resolute, maintaining that his track record, clear vision, and unwavering determination will secure him both his party’s ticket and the governorship. Whether the allegations will impact his campaign remains to be seen, but the APC aspirant has made it clear he will not back down in his quest to lead Ndi Anambra.
