Social media activist VeryDarkman has ignited a fresh firestorm of controversy by branding the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as “the most corrupt agency in Nigeria” following the commission’s reported arrest of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai.

In a viral video circulating across social media platforms, the outlined critic alleged that the anti-graft agency’s actions are politically motivated and selectively enforced, pointing to what he described as a glaring inconsistency in its approach to El-Rufai.

The Allegation: Selective Justice

VeryDarkman claimed that El-Rufai was not investigated during his active support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2023 election campaign, despite alleged corruption and embezzlement during his tenure as Kaduna State governor. However, now that El-Rufai has reportedly positioned himself against Tinubu’s potential re-election bid in 2027, the EFCC has suddenly found reason to act.

“I Will Keep Saying This, The EFCC Is The Most Corrupt Agency In Nigeria. Their Arrest Of Nasir El-Rufai Proves Me Right,” VeryDarkman declared in the video. “They Didn’t Arrest Him For Corruption Or Embezzlement While He Was Campaigning For Bola Tinubu In 2023, But Now That He Opposes Tinubu’s Re-Election In 2027, They’ve Suddenly Decided To Go After Him.”

The activist insisted that the situation validates his long-held belief that anti-corruption enforcement in Nigeria is selective, weaponized against political opponents while allies enjoy impunity.
